Unfortunately The Bay does not get the national recognition that other regions around the country gets even though you see or hear our influences daily. Playa hater, fo shizzle, off the hook, and playboy are all terms that came from Bay Area hip-hop.

The only movement that has been seen in the industry in the past few years was the hyphy movement and that came and went like a flash in the pan. But hyphy is only one sub-genre of Bay Area hip-hop. With other sub-genres like backpack, mob, party, and conscious the Bay offers different types of hip-hop to satisfy any ones needs.

With being disregarded by the industry, artist in the Bay have always went the independent route. Along the way, these artist seen that they can sell anywhere from 10,000 to 30,000 units and make more money and control their masters while their counterparts on major labels never see a royalty check. Here at bayareahip-hop we will provide techniques and tips on how to be a successful independent artist.
